They create a lovely environment in any setting and come with a metal ring at the top for easy hanging. Our capiz supply comes from a fishing village in Java, where our shell artisans sustainably harvest the shells and shape them. All parts of the capiz (jingle oyster) are used; the meat is used for food, the main part of the shell for handicraft, and the shell waste for fertilizer. Only full-grown shells are picked from the kelp beds, where they grow, which provides more space and food source for the young ones to grow.

For over 30 years, zen zen has been at the forefront of the Fair Trade and sustainability movement. The Balizen brand, which we created, is a distinctive line of ethical products for home, garden and wardrobe. All designs are inspired by nature and the Zen traditions of craftsmanship, simplicity, harmony and the use of natural, eco-friendly materials. Balizen has deep respect for artisans' lifestyles, traditions and environments.
As proud members of the Fair Trade Federation, we work with village communities, sharing knowledge on conservation, sustainable development & organic farming.
We seek to bring love and joy to our artisans' work and to your home, while also sharing the abilities and sensibilities of one culture with another, connecting people into a global family.
Andrea and Nyoman are the founders and creatives of Balizen; Andrea is the designer behind every product, and together they divide their time between Bali and the USA, running the business with a dedicated team of employees, artisan partners, and the support of customers, family & friends.
