Handcrafted traveler's biodegradable lokta soap paper, 20 pieces, 2″ x 3″ sheets. Lokta paper soaked in silk soap is a great thing to carry in your bag for when you need to wash your hands or face on the go! These soap papers are biodegradable and tree-free, a great ecological alternative to travel soaps packaged in plastic bottles! Just add water and rub the paper between your hands for an easy wash. Great gift for the ecologically minded and those who just want clean hands when they are away from home or on the trail! In the heart of the Himalayas, Nepali craftspeople have been producing handmade paper for over a thousand years. Prized for its durability, soft texture, and natural color, Lokta paper is an environmentally friendly, tree-free paper made from the bark of the regenerating Daphne bush. Originally used in Tibetan monasteries for sacred texts, the making of Lokta paper is a village tradition dating back thousands of years.

Ganesh Himal Trading | Fair Trade | Made in Nepal

At the heart of Ganesh Himal Trading are long term relationships. Established in 1984 by husband and wife duo Ric Conner and Denise Attwood, Ganesh Himal continues to partner with many of the same artisans 40 years later. We believe that building long lasting relationships based on trust, dialogue and mutual respect is key to community building and helps move us toward a more equitable future.

Our partnerships are grounded in reciprocity. We work diligently to establish mutually beneficial relationships with our producers in Nepal by encouraging a balanced level of give and take. We work directly with producers as a team, expanding each other's talents and ideas. We believe everyone's insight and perspective is needed to create systems that address the changing nature of our world.

We have been proud members of the Fair Trade Federation since its founding in 1994. FTF is an organization dedicated to strengthening and promoting fair trade organizations in the U.S. and Canada.

We are proud members of Green America. Green America focuses on economic action to solve social and environmental problems.

In 2014, Ganesh Himal founded the non-profit Conscious Connections Foundation (CCF) to facilitate the advancement of marginalized individuals in Nepal by promoting access to education, healthcare, skill development, and facilities improvement so they can create strong, vibrant, economically viable communities.
